Stoke City boss Mark Hughes insisted his club were keeping their cards close to their chest when asked whether he planned to bring in a striker.
According to Turket’s Hurriyet, Robin van Persie remains a real target for Stoke city, and Fenerbahce could be tempted to sell him if the right offer comes in before the transfer window closes.
Fenerbahçe are currently without a manager after Vitor Pereria returned to Portugal, citing problems at the club. The manager hasn’t completely resigned but he’s obviously in the wrong country, not doing his job, and there are threats of legal action being made in the media.
Robin van Persie should adapt very well to Stoke City, if he made the move, because of the football they’ve played under Mark Hughes so far.
The problem remains the player’s wages. Due to low taxes in Turkey, Stoke would have to pay around £160K a week to equal Van Persie’s net gain in Turkey.
The 33-year old scored 20 goals for Fenerbahce last season.
