Earlier on Thursday, we covered an article claiming that Torino, who are currently loaning Nikola Vlasic from West Ham United, were wanting to try and negotiate a lower price for a permanent transfer.

The Croatian midfielder was sent to Serie A to play under Ivan Juric for the season, with an option to sign him fully set at €15m.

His start to the season has made that look like a bargain, but despite this, it was claimed that Torino were going to try and negotiate a reduction on the fee with West Ham.

This is a tactic they tried last year with Leicester when it came to Dennis Praet, which backfired, since the player is now back at the Premier League club.

Vlasic picked up his first assist of the season at the weekend in a 2-1 win over Milan, which went down well in Italy, with Gazzetta dello Sport describing him as the club’s ‘complete player’.

They named him man of the match, impressed by how constant he was throughout the game, which is why an article from Calciomercato on Monday isn’t really surprising.

They state that ‘considering Vlasic’s level of performance in this first part of the season’, the club’s owner and president, Urbano Cairo, ‘is now thinking about exercising the right of redemption clause’.

This suggests he is intent on spending the full-price of €15m, rather than negotiate a discount, perhaps recalling what happened with Praet last summer.
