One of the stories that kept returning in Spain over the past few months was whether Giovani Lo Celso would leave Tottenham over the summer.

The Argentine had returned from his loan at Villarreal, and there was hope he could be available for a transfer, as clubs such as Real Betis were interested, and still are, according to AS.

However, the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham’s manager seemed to change matters, with it initially claimed the new man in charge wanted to keep Lo Celso around to use him.

To date, though, that has not really been the case, as the midfielder has made just two appearances for the club, with just 16 minutes of Premier League football under his belt.

He is currently out with a hamstring injury, but he wasn’t used in the first two games of the campaign, giving us a quick idea of where he stood in Postecoglou’s plans.

Tottenham have carried on winning in his absence, and all this gives Real Betis hope a deal could be struck in January.

That’s what AS hint at on Monday, pointing out that despite the arrival of Isco, the feeling is that Sergio Canales has still not been replaced in terms of ability in the team.

They will now have to wait until January to rectify that, with it then written that ‘all eyes are still’ on the Tottenham player, who continues to have a ‘lack of prominence’ in the Spurs squad.
