Ligue 1 side Lyon have today made an attempt for the signing of Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri, according to a report from France.
L’Equipe writes that the French club spent ‘a few hours trying to attract’ the player during talks today.
The outlet couldn’t manage to know how much Lyon are offering for the 29-year-old. What they did learn when speaking to market officials is that his value is estimated at between €5m and €7m.
However, L’Equipe also makes it clear that the operation shouldn’t be easy due to financial issues. Firstly, because reports from the English press recently said Liverpool are demanding €15m for his move.
Lyon would also be worried about the low potential of a resale, since Shaqiri is soon turning 30. Then there’s also a problem with his salary, since it’s unlikely he’d accept taking a lot less than €350k per month. So the outlet says Lyon must find the right ‘arguments’ to add him to the squad.
Recent reports from Germany have also been claiming that Shaqiri wants to leave Liverpool this summer, and is currently waiting for the right offer for his future. Now we shall see if the Ligue 1 side could convince him.
