Barcelona are hoping that Arsenal and Manchester United firm up their interest in Nice defender Jean-Claire Todibo as they have a 20% sale clause on the player.
That’s according to Sport, who say the two clubs have ‘asked about his departure’ in the January transfer window but been told nothing will happen until the summer.
The newspaper explains that Todibo has become of the ‘most outstanding centre-backs’ in Ligue 1, undergoing a huge development and evolution since a difficult spelt at the Camp Nou.
Nice have already received several offers for the player, who is now one of the ‘most sought-after’ centre-backs in European football thanks to his performances.
Barcelona are ‘attentive’ to the situation as they will receive 20% of any future transfer and are now hoping Arsenal and Manchester United make their move so they receive further income for their beleaguered finances.
Arsenal and Manchester United are known to be big fans of the player and had ‘asked about his departure’ in the January transfer window but were sent packing by Nice.
They have closed the door to any potential deal in the winter window but will sell in the summer and know the Premier League duo have the player ‘on their agenda’.
Sport say it’s likely a deal could exceed €40m and thus ensure Barcelona a nice further income on a player that didn’t work at Camp Nou but has starred away from the club instead.
