While Napoli have indeed made an offer to Wolverhampton Wanderers for Max Kilman, the Premier League side said no.

The €35m weren’t enough to convince Wolves, and the Serie A club have since held back from improving that, with anything above that ‘considered excessive’.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport on Monday, who look at the situation, and reveal that today will be an important day in Naples.

This is due to the fact that this will be the day when Mauro Meluso, their new director of football, will hold the first ‘real transfer market summit’ with everyone.

Therefore, a lot of discussions will take place between him, new manager Rudi Garcia and the rest of the scouting staff to determine the best course of action on several fronts, including the pursuit of a new defender to replace Kim Min-jae.

That’s where the Wolves star comes in, as he has long been named the priority in that regard, fitting the bill almost down to a T to follow in the footsteps of the South Korea international.

In said summit, Corriere state that ‘a point will obviously be made’ regarding the purchase of a centre-back, and the ‘first target’ remains Kilman.

However, as said above, the €40m asked by Wolves are considered a bit too much, which is why an alternative, VfB Stuttgart’s Konstantinos Mavropanos is also being eyed up.

Therefore, Monday’s meeting could be key in Napoli’s pursuit of Kilman.
