It seems Wolverhampton Wanderers may find an open path to sign Ramon Sosa from Tallares.
That’s because Benfica had also been said to be competing for the signing, and according to reports from Portugal today, the Eagles have given up on their pursuit.
Newspaper Record writes that the Lisbon side made an approach for Sosa, and didn’t advance for the signing because they believe he’d be too expensive.
The outlet writes that Talleres are willing to sell the player for at least €20m. That’s a strange piece of information, as the Argentine media says his release clause stands at US$20m (€18.4m).
The Argentine media had been showing excitement about the big interest in Sosa, with reports this week claiming the transfer ‘could be a record’ for Talleres.
With claims saying Wolves wanted to close the signing ‘as soon as possible’, we shall see if they’re about to place their bid on the table.
