The Portuguese media is starting to make it look like it will be tough for Nottingham Forest to sign Florentino Luís from Benfica.

It’s newspaper Record who today features a story about this chase, claiming that even though the Tricky Trees continue with their pursuit, the midfielder is ‘far from being a free man’.

The outlet writes that Benfica are blocking his exit, as manager Roger Schmidt believes Florentino is a very necessary player in the squad, as he’s the only one capable of doing his specific role.

Record recalls that Nottingham Forest already had two bids rejected by the Eagles. The first was of €30m, and the second was of €35m, and it seems the Lisbon side didn’t even bother making a counteroffer.

It isn’t said whether the Tricky Trees will come up with a third attempt to sign the midfielder, even if a report on Thursday suggested they would.

Even though Florentino has also been linked to the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool, Record makes it clear that the club who got ‘ahead’ with their concrete offers were really Nottingham Forest.

They just haven’t been able to convince Benfica of selling him. At least not yet.
