FC Utrecht found it ‘impossible’ to sign Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville because the Whites vetoed his departure in the recently conclude transfer window.
That’s according to De Telegraaf, who say Leeds decided to send Hélder Costa and Ian Poveda on loan to Valencia and Blackburn Rovers respectively, instead of the 19-year-old.
The winger is yet to make an appearance for the English club’s first team since arriving at Elland Road from Feyenoord in 2020. He managed six goals and eight assists for Leeds’ U23 side last season.
De Telegraaf’s title states Leeds United ‘kept Crysencio Summerville out of FC Utrecht’s hands’.
Within the report, it’s said the player was in the picture for the Dutch club, but the deal didn’t take shape due to the stance maintained by the Premier League side.
Apart from Utrecht, SC Cambuur, FC Groningen and SC Heerenveen also enquired about the possibility of bringing the teenager back to the Netherlands, but their efforts went in vain.
The report adds Marcelo Bielsa is ‘pleased’ with Summerville’s development, which is why he has included the teenager in his squad for all three league matches this season.
