Cagliari are continuing to be linked with Ternana forward Felipe Avenatti in the Italian media. The 23-year-old looks set to leave the Serie B side on a free transfer this summer, and has been linked with a move to Leeds United.
Sportstadio have claimed Cagliari are still showing an interest in Avenatti after previously being linked with the Uruguayan a few weeks ago. The Serie A side will be looking to strengthen their squad in the summer, and the forward is an option open to them.
There have been no reports of talks with the player’s agent as yet, although fellow Serie A side Pescara have made contact. However, its unlikely Avenatti would move to Pescara because they are on the verge of relegation back to Serie B
In January it was confirmed Avenatti would see out his contract with Ternana, which could lead to a scramble to sign the South American in the summer.
Leeds United could be one of those clubs looking to snap the player up on a free transfer after their previous attempts to sign him. Leeds United made another approach for Avenatti in the last summer window, but were again unsuccessful.
Leeds United face competition to sign Avenatti, and it will take some convincing to bring the player to England over a move to Serie A, especially with Cagliari showing such keen interest.
