AZ technical director Max Huiberts has told the Dutch media Vincent Janssen will come good at Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old joined the Premier League side in the summer, but has found goals hard to come by since his arrival in England.

Voetbal Primeur have reported on comments Huiberts made when asked about Janssen’s move to Tottenham, and the transfer fee. The AZ chief believes the Netherlands international is worth the fee Tottenham paid, despite question marks over his valuation.

Huiberts highlighted Janssen is a full international, and the top scorer in the Dutch League last season, so was worth the asking price.

“It was said that it was ridiculous that we were asking for more than ten million for Vincent because he plays for AZ. But why he was the top scorer in the Netherlands and the number one striker of Oranje? Vincent was the top scorer of the Eredivisie. I am sure that he will adapt quickly to the level of the Premier League,” said the AZ director.

Janssen joined Tottenham in the last transfer window for £17m, and despite some decent performances he’s not found his goalscoring touch from last season. The Dutchman’s only goal for his new club came against Gillingham in the EFL Cup, and was left out of Tottenham’s starting line-up against Manchester City despite the absence of Harry Kane.
