Chelsea sacked Frank Lampard in January and appointed Thomas Tuchel as his successor the same month. The Blues were ninth in the table when they relieved Lampard of his duties.
Chelsea have progressed under the German as they have made it to the semi-finals of both the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Tuchel suffered his first league defeat as the English club’s manager at the hands of West Bromwich Albion earlier this month. Chelsea’s good run in the Premier League has seen them climb to fifth spot, trailing fourth placed West Ham United by one point.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager’s work in his first few months at Chelsea hasn’t gone unnoticed.
According to Fussball Transfers, Tuchel is identified as one of the three options to replace Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich.
PSG eliminated the Bavarian club from the Champions League and after the tie, Flick said: “No matter what I would do, my family would always support me and stand behind me. Whether I might be at the DFB [Germany national team] and have a different rhythm there doesn’t matter to them.”
The website explains Tuesday’s clash was Flick’s last big match as the Bayern manager. Although he has a contract until 2023, the Bundesliga winners will not force the coach to continue if he wants to take a new challenge elsewhere.
It’s claimed Tuchel, RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann and VfL Wolfsburg’s Oliver Glasner are three candidates to replace Flick, if the latter ends up leaving Bayern after this season. Bayern have held talks with Nagelsmann, who at the moment is a ‘very popular’ choice.
According to the report, the German giants ‘appreciate’ Tuchel, but are aware it is ‘almost impossible’ to take him away from Chelsea.
