Toby Alderweireld’s and Christian Eriksen’s contracts expire at Tottenham in 2020 and DH in Belgium reported on Monday that José Mourinho’s arrival could see the defender extend his stay at the club beyond this season.
FcInterNews claims the Denmark international’s intention to leave Spurs has not changed even after Mourinho’s arrival.
Tottenham presented a ‘rich offer’ to extend the 27-year-old’s contract, which included a €50m release clause, but he turned it down as his agent Martin Schoots has offers from several European clubs.
Inter Milan contacted Eriksen’s representative in the last window and after the summer’s chat, they have decided to ‘accelerate’ their efforts, with a view to signing him next summer.
Eriksen’s signing has approval from everyone at the San Siro, including the club’s owners and Antonio Conte. Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has already met Schoots in Milan to ‘officially establish contacts’.
Eriksen is demanding a four-year contract worth €10m per season and the Serie A side are studying the possibility of bringing him as a free agent.
The first meeting between Inter and Schoots was positive and the Nerazzurri must overcome competition from other clubs in order to seal the deal for the Tottenham player.
