Liverpool are yet to register a win in the league as they drew against Fulham and Crystal Palace, before falling to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at the start of this week.

The Reds have struggled with injuries as several of their players, including midfielders Naby Keïta, Thiago Alcântara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones, are on the sidelines.

This has seen Jürgen Klopp admit on Friday that Liverpool could sign a midfielder, if the ‘right player’ becomes available.

Reports in the English press have suggested Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong as a target for the Merseyside club and some even stated they have made a bid worth €70m to sign him.

Claims made in the UK about Liverpool making an offer for the Netherlands international have reached Spain, with Mundo Deportivo relaying it and sharing their own information on this case.

Without wasting any time, the newspaper says there is ‘no offer from Liverpool for Frenkie de Jong’. They add the said proposal is ‘not recorded’ at the Camp Nou.

The Dutchman has been chased by Manchester United for the past few months, but refused to leave. Sport state the La Liga side have ‘never denied the possibility of a sale’, provided they were to receive a €80m bid for him.

Barcelona have also never forced the player to leave and are open to keeping him, if he agrees to take a pay cut.

It’s claimed De Jong has given the green light to his agent to listen to the Blaugrana’s proposal to lower his salary.

With this step, the former Ajax man is most likely to continue at Barcelona for the rest of the season.
