According to claims in the Italian media Leicester City are looking to move in on Sassuolo attacker Gregoire Defrel. The Frenchman is expected to leave the Serie A side this summer, and along with Leicester City, AS Roma have also been linked with the player.
TMW have reported Leicester City have tabled a bid for Defrel in the last few hours, although the amount hasn’t been revealed.
Earlier in the week it was reported Roma were lining up a €18m offer for the forward, and it’s likely the Premier League side’s bid is in the region of this. It’s been reported both Leicester City and Roma are now in pole position to sign Defrel before the deadline.
A few days ago we covered reports from Italy that Leicester City were expected to step up their pursuit of Defrel due to Roma’s interest. With the Serie A side weighing up an offer for the player, Leicester City were looking to get ahead of the Italian club.
However, further reports today say Defrel is pushing for a move to Roma despite the interest from Leicester City.
Gazzetta dello Sport say a move to Roma is closing in.
