Sergio Agüero is in his final year of contract at Manchester City.
Last month, reports coming out of Italy talked about Napoli’s interest in the Argentina international and it was also stated they are willing to offer him a four-year deal worth €10m per season.
However, the 32-year-old’s agent immediately dismissed these claims during an interview with Area Napoli.
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato discussed has now Pep Guardiola’s forward during TV Luna’s programme, Goal Show, and Area Napoli have relayed his comments.
He claims the former Atlético Madrid man is a ‘suggestion’ for the Serie A club’s attacking division as they could be without the services of Arkadiusz Milik for next season.
Venerato adds Cristiano Giuntoli, the director of football at Napoli, has held talks with the City player and his brother. However, he makes it clear the Italian side’s chief has not spoken to Agüero’s representative.
There have been no recent claims of the star signing an extension at the Etihad and if Manchester City fail to tie down Agüero to a new deal, he can leave the club as a free agent next summer.
