Sergio Agüero has been one of the standout players at Manchester City since he joined the club, and his impressive goalscoring record has seen him become their all-time leading scorer.

With a contract at the Etihad until 2021, the 31-year-old is drawing attention from elsewhere.

Italian journalist Ciro Venerato talked about Napoli’s interest in the forward during TV Luna’s Goal Show, with his words relayed by CalcioNapoli24.

He claims the Serie A side made a phone call to the Argentina international and his brother, who is acting as his agent.

The former Atlético Madrid man earns a gross salary of €13m at the Etihad and the Naples club are ready to offer him a four-year deal worth €10m per season (gross). He would earn a net annual salary of €7.5m, excluding bonuses and image rights.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side need to understand if the player is interested in joining them before discussing a deal with Manchester City. Venerato states Napoli ‘would be willing’ to offer €30m to the Premier League winners.

Venerato states ‘it does not mean that Napoli will take Agüero’, but adds the ‘certainty is that Napoli have contacted him’.
