One of the big question marks ahead of the North London Derby was the fitness of Thomas Partey.

The Ghanaian midfielder, who was bought for €50m late on in the recent transfer window, has missed the last three games through injury, which has been apparent in their performances, losing 2-1 to Wolves and drawing 0-0 to Leeds United.

That’s why there have been a lot of questions regarding his potential inclusion in the line up against Tottenham, which Mikel Arteta was asked about in his recent press conference.

The Spaniard was unable to give a definitive answer, merely stating the midfielder was doing his all to be ready, even trying to return ahead of schedule, but footballghana.com believe we might not see Partey for a while still.

The website reported on Tuesday the player’s ‘injury was more serious than before and the former Atlético Madrid midfielder will be on the sidelines until the new year’.

They don’t provide any more detail, but do claim it as an exclusive, so make of that what you will.

It could all depend on how lenient the doctors are at the Emirates, or how swiftly Partey recovers, but Arteta’s reserved answer suggests there may be some truth behind the report.
