Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud remains a ‘secondary hypothesis’ for Juventus this summer, should they failed to get a deal for Edin Dzeko over the line.
The Italian giants are pushing ahead with plans to sign the Roma striker, with Andrea Pirlo desperate to add to his forward options.
All indications are that a deal will happen at some point, with the striker determined to try and get it done as soon as possible.
His arrival, though, is dependant on Roma signing Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli and, should that fail to happen happen, Juve have a plan in place and alternatives to Dzeko in mind.
One of those is Barcelona’s Luis Suarez but, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Giroud also finds himself on the list.
They describe the Frenchman as a ‘secondary hypothesis’ for Juventus this summer but one that should not be ‘excluded’.
That’s because he’s currently an ‘outsider’ at Chelsea but also because he can be bought for as little as €5m, making him an overall attractive proposition to the Serie A champions.
Whether Giroud is open to the move isn’t mentioned but given he finds himself further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge after Timo Werner’s arrival, it’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t be.
As is stated, though, he’s only a backup option at the moment, with all eyes on those deals for Milik and Dzeko for the time being.
