On January 2nd it was reported in France that Chelsea had made a €40m offer for Moussa Dembele.
The Blues have been linked with the striker since he was at Celtic, with all kinds of claims seemingly coming from someone connected to the player.
This time, it was explained the €40m offer had been rejected by Lyon, but that wasn’t the end of it. Chelsea were expected to return quickly with a new proposal to try and tempt the Ligue 1 side, however, it doesn’t appear that ever happened.
Dembele to Chelsea went quiet, and then there were claims of Manchester United interest, again looking like they came from the player’s camp.
Tuesday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Lyon are now looking towards a summer sale, regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League. The club are considering how they replace the striker, and Dembele looks set to be Lyon’s next big sale.
It’s once again stated Chelsea have ‘expressed interest’.
The French newspaper doesn’t give an estimated price at this stage, although it seems likely Lyon will be looking at higher than the claimed €40m Chelsea offer.
