On Saturday we covered Gazzetta dello Sport’s report on the big January sale at AS Roma and how Chelsea were looking to take advantage of it.

At that stage Emerson Palmieri’s move to Chelsea looked very close indeed, and Edin Dzeko a distinct possibility.

The Italian newspaper explained that even with serious doubts over Antonio Conte’s future, Roman Abramovich didn’t want to miss a market opportunity, and it’s not as if Chelsea managers control signings anyway.

On Sunday Gazzetta look at it again and slow things down a little.

It’s explained ‘Chelsea will come back to talk from tomorrow’ to try and sign Dzeko from Roma, showing the transfer gurus at both clubs don’t necessarily work seven days a week.

On Saturday. Gazzetta somewhat talked down the idea of Michy Batshuayi moving to Roma on loan for the rest of the season, but today they say the Belgian striker would be a good option for Roma’s future.

That makes it sound like Roma would be looking at a permanent move for the Chelsea player.

Emerson doesn’t even get a mention, perhaps because that track isn’t quite as exciting as Dzeko and Batshuayi.
