For the past week or so, reports from Spain have explained Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in signing Sergio Reguilón.
The left-back is on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid, and his time with Julen Lopetegui’s side will come to an end after the Europa League final against Inter Milan later today.
He has already admitted it’s unclear where he will play next season.
The 23-year-old’s performances for Sevilla have not only attracted interest from clubs across Europe, but also seen him make it to the Spain’s squad for the matches against Germany and Ukraine in September.
Although Luis Enrique recognised Reguilón’s qualities, Sport claim Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has ‘put the cross on him’. This suggests the Frenchman doesn’t have the defender in his plans for next season.
The newspaper also explains Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli ‘want him’, and Real Madrid are ready to sell the player rather than letting him go out on loan. His valuation is €25m and it’s claimed the ‘price is a bargain’.
If the Madrid based club end up selling him for €25m, Sport reckon it would be ‘another questionable piece of business’ done by Real Madrid.
Earlier reports indicated Real Madrid want to include a buyback option, but that’s not mentioned in today’s report.
Frank Lampard is expected to allow one of Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Reguilón’s displays for Sevilla have showcased he can play at the highest level and if the Blues end up signing him, he could replace either Alonso or Emerson at Chelsea next season.
