Chelsea and Tottenham are ‘waiting to see’ what happens with Luka Jovič at Real Madrid ahead of a possible move this summer.
The Serbian striker joined the La Liga giants in a £54m deal from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer after scoring 27 goals in 48 games for them last season.
His time in Spain has not proven to be a happy one, though, with him managing just two goals and one assist in 24 games so far.
It has been suggested he will be moved on this summer as a result and Mundo Deportivo state that is very much the case.
They report that Jovič ‘has not given the expected performance’ and Zinedine Zidane now ‘seems to be tired of waiting’ for the striker to hit the expected level.
There is also a growing ‘malaise’ at the club about the player’s attitude, mainly after he recently broke the club’s quarantine rules to fly back to Serbia amid the Coronavirus outbreak.
Several clubs are all keeping an eye on the situation, with Chelsea, as well as rivals Tottenham, both said to be keen to add him to their squads this summer.
The problem is Madrid’s asking price, with them looking to recoup the €60m they paid last summer, a price ‘it will be difficult’ for the clubs that want him to reach.
That alone would probably make both London clubs look elsewhere, although his attitude problems are also a major red flag.
Chelsea have done well to build a positive atmosphere around the club this season under Frank Lampard, and it would be unwise for them to add a negative, big money attitude into that.
Tottenham, meanwhile, could also do with a new striker but it’s extremely debatable whether Jovič would fit into José Mourinho’s style, or have the kind of attitude that the Portuguese boss demands.
