The Italian media now expects a battle between Inter Milan and Lazio for the signing of Olivier Giroud from Chelsea.

Both Serie A sides have been linked to the striker for a few months now, and newspaper Tuttosport brings a little more details about this competition today.

The outlet believes Giroud isn’t signing a new deal with Chelsea, since he’s ‘convinced’ that his future now lies in Italian football.

It’s claimed that Inter Milan were strongly interested in the player back in January, and Antonio Conte would’ve tried the signing, if Christian Eriksen’s move hadn’t taken all of the club’s budget at that time.

Meanwhile, Lazio did try to take the Frenchman in the last days of the transfer window, but that’s when Chelsea decided to hold him until the end of the season.

Now the clubs are set to fight for the signing once again in the summer, with the big difference being that this time, they’re both trying to get Giroud for free at the end of his contract.

It’s said that both Lazio and Inter Milan are offering Giroud a two-year deal.
