Chelsea need to move quickly to secure the signing of striker Deivid Washington, with Monaco looking to ‘hijack’ the deal.

That’s according to journalist Santi Aouna, who reports that Washington would prefer the move to Ligue 1 over Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have been pushing for a deal for Washington over the last 24 hours, with several reports in Brazil indicating that a deal was close.

Washington was believed to be keen on the deal and Chelsea were progressing on it with Santos, offering up €20m to get things completed quickly.

Everything appeared to be on track, but Aouna reports that Monaco are now ‘trying to hijack’ the deal after ‘jumping into’ things before it was signed off with Chelsea.

They have improved their initial offer for Washington thus putting a spanner in the works despite Chelsea having a verbal agreement in place.

Washington is said to prefer Monaco, but Chelsea are offering Santos more money than the Ligue 1 side at this moment in time.

Thus, ‘crucial hours’ are now incoming as the two clubs battle it out to try and win the youngster this summer.
