Frank Lampard’s claims regarding N’Golo Kanté have caused quite a stir, with Didier Deschamps agreeing the Chelsea midfielder was probably one of the best in the world, while Joey Barton still needs a fair bit of convincing.
Perhaps that’s because Kanté is very shy and keeps to himself a lot, but when he’s obliged to face the press on international duty, there’s no hiding.
Asked about all the praise he is currently receiving in England, relayed by L’Equipe, he said: “I’m very happy about my season, I made the right choice by joining Chelsea. We’re in a good place, we’re doing great work.
“It’s true that I hear nice things about me. It pleases me, but I try to hear without listening. What’s most important is to finish the season well.”
As mentioned above, many ‘facts’ have been created about the Chelsea midfielder, and the French journalists actually went as far as asking him whether or not he’d heard about these: “My teammates in England have given me a few. A favourite? No, it was just for a laugh”.
Kanté also went out of his way to clarify one thing: no, he does not cover the 30% of the Earth’s surface that isn’t covered in water.
