After a summer of arrivals at Chelsea, the Blues are now focused on shipping players out and balancing the books somewhat.

Frank Lampard has a bloated squad that needs trimming down while several youngsters could do with going out on loan to get experience.

One of those is Malang Sarr, who arrived on a free transfer from Nice this summer but is not part of the club’s immediate plans.

Thus, a loan move for 21-year-old makes sense, but there seems to be a little bit of confusion about where he’ll end up, with various outlets reporting different things.

First, there is Tuttomercatoweb, who say Chelsea want to send Sarr out on loan to ‘gain experience’ and both Porto and Saint-Etienne are interested in him.

Le 10 Sport back this up, also stating that Saint-Etienne are interested and that manager Claude Puel ‘hopes’ to have the defender as a replacement for Wesley Fofana, who has moved to Leicester.

They add Sampdoria to the mix, however, saying that they have ‘arguments’ to convince him to move to Italy.

Coming in last are Telefoot, via journalist Yassin Nfaoui, who are a little more definitive than the other two.

They say that Sarr won’t be joining Saint Etienne as he should ‘soon engage’ with Sampdoria. Their manager, Claudio Ranieri, has already given his okay to the transfer.

However, the Serie A side want to complete the sale of defender Omar Colley, who has been linked to Fulham, before they do anything else.

Now, we’re inclined to believe Telefoot on this given Sarr is French and all but it seems strange that the Italian website, TMW, aren’t reporting the interest from an Italian team, never mind that they’re at the front of the queue.

Thus, it’s worth taking a step back and seeing how this develops, with the only clear thing being that Sarr will leave Chelsea at some point.
