Following his brief cameo at the weekend against Pescara, the Italian press, and AC Milan, are getting excited about the prospect of keeping Mario Pasalic in the Serie A.
However, according to Calciomercato, Chelsea might make this rather complicated for them, mostly because they are also excited about the player, who is currently on their books until 2018.
The Croatian midfielder, who spent last season on loan at AS Monaco, took some time to make his debut for the Serie A side due to fitness issues, but he’s ready now.
Calciomercato claim on Thursday that Chelsea’s belief in Pasalic is the reason they didn’t include a buyout clause in the deal with Milan, but, generous as they are, they did include a first refusal clause.
This means that, at anytime throughout the loan, if a club makes a bid for the 21-year-old, Chelsea are obliged to let AC Milan know about it in order to give them the opportunity to match it.
At the end of the day, as the Italian website make it clear, all will come down to whether or not Antonio Conte wants the player in his squad for the 2016-17 season.
