After reports Danny Drinkwater could be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season, the first rumours about his replacement already start to pop up.
It’s Spanish outlet El Gol Digital who reports it today, saying the Blues are now keeping an eye on the Villarreal midfielder Manu Trigueros.
Chelsea would have the 26-year-old as ‘the main candidate’ for the midfield, even though there are still no claims of conversations or a bid for him.
The website writes that it’s quite possible that Trigueros leaves Villarreal this summer, along with many other players from the squad.
In a mix of players who are useless and others who can make some good money, Trigueros is part of the second group, and the club would be happy to get a good fee with him.
Protected with a contract running until 2022, Trigueros is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €20m.
