Chelsea and Palmeiras are reportedly set to hold a meeting for the transfer of Andrey Santos today.
According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, the clubs shall now discuss the final obstacle for his move, which is the player’s participation in the U20 World Cup.
It’s said Chelsea would like the midfielder to feature in the tournament between May and June, while Palmeiras are against that, and they actually have a good reason for it.
Nicola says the Brazilian side are signing the player on a loan until the end of the year.
That means Palmeiras could have Andrey for few months, and in case he goes to the U20 World Cup, he’d be of even less use to them in this potential short spell.
That’s what the clubs are set to discuss today, but despite that issue, Nicola claims there are very good chances of a deal, especially because any other club who would like to sign the player would face those very same problems.
