Hakim Ziyech remains a target for AC Milan and the Italian side are set to hold talks with Chelsea after the two sides meet in the Champions League this evening.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who provide an interesting twist to the European meeting between the two sides this evening.
Ziyech was linked with a move away from Chelsea throughout the summer, having fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel during his time in charge.
He was keen to leave and get regular first-team football and Milan were ready to offer it to him, if they could secure a loan deal.
An agreement could not be struck with Chelsea and Ziyech remained at Stamford Bridge, where he continues to be out of the picture despite Tuchel’s sacking and the subsequent hiring of Graham Potter.
Milan remain keen on the Moroccan ahead of the January transfer window, and according to journalist Daniele Longo, talks will be held after tonight’s meeting in the Champions League.
“Ziyech had been very close to wearing the Milan jersey in the summer but an agreement on the formula was not found because Milan were pushing for a right of redemption,” he told the website.
“They wanted to own him outright. What we know is that at the end of the game the clubs, who are friends, will talk again because Milan needs a right outside player, all the more so after the injury to Saelemaekers.
“A negotiation will start to anticipate the arrival of Ziyech in Milan in January, otherwise it will be defined in next summer.
“He (Ziyech) is not in Potter;s plans and is disgruntled. He wants to leave, and he wants to wear the Milan shirt.”
