The Italian media today writes that Chelsea have a clear advantage in the race for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

Outlet TuttoJuve features a story claiming that following Timo Werner’s return to the German club, the Blues could take ‘advantage’ in the pursuit for the centre-back.

It’s said Chelsea are ‘far ahead’ for the signing, despite the heavy competition from clubs such as Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool and Manchester City.

The website highlights how Gvardiol ‘has already proved’ himself playing for club and country that ‘he has what it takes to become one of the best centre-backs in the world’, as he currently features for Croatia at the World Cup and is doing pretty well.

With TuttoJuve obviously focusing on Juventus’ pursuit for the player, they now throw in the towel, claiming it’s ‘unlikely’ that the Old Lady can even ‘fight’ against Chelsea for the signing.

The Blues’ links with Gvardiol have indeed become more intense in the past couple of weeks, although it remains unknown how much the Stamford Bridge side would pay to take him away from Leipzig.
