Despite the recent addition to Manchester United in the stories about Denzel Dumfries, some members of the Italian press continue to push Chelsea as the favourites.
Ever since the summer, back when Thomas Tuchel was in charge, the Blues have been touted as the ones wanting the Dutchman the most, leading to talk of them moving in January.
That’s something Inter will only allow if they can get the player back on loan for the second half of the season, which few can see Chelsea agreeing to, meaning a move in the summer is more likely at this moment in time.
This is according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who write on Thursday that any transfer would be ‘more in June than in January’, and that ‘there have been and still are contacts’.
As for Chelsea, they are said to be ‘clearly the club ahead’ of the pack of suitors, giving them a front row seat to any negotiations planned in the near future, perhaps even helped by their relationship with the Serie A side following the successful deals for Romelu Lukaku and Cesare Casadei last summer.
