Celtic may actually get a great chance to sign Paulo Bernardo on a permanent move this summer, giving Brendan Rodgers the chance to keep him in the squad.

The midfielder, who spent a season on loan from Benfica, had 33 appearances made for Celtic, and is now returning to Lisbon.

Newspaper Record today shares a story highlighting the double won by Bernardo with Celtic, and claims the player is waiting to see what happens to him.

Celtic are said to still be evaluating whether they’ll pay the €7.5m buying option agreed in the loan contract.

The good news for Celtic is that Benfica don’t seem keen on having him back. Record claims Bernardo is an issue the Eagles need to sort out this summer, because manager Roger Schmidt doesn’t count on the midfielder to be in the squad for next season.

The situation will undoubtedly give the Bhoys a nice chance to negotiate better conditions. Bernardo is said to be ‘waiting for the decision’ from Celtic, because at this stage he seems to have no idea where he’ll be playing next season.
