Celtic are moving forward with their plans to sign Jota on a permanent deal, according to claims from Portugal.

Outlet A Bola today writes that the Hoops and Benfica ‘continue to make the process advance’ as they discuss the move.

The story points out that Celtic already made clear their wish of buying the winger, and the buying option of €7.5m will be a ‘starting point’ for the negotiations.

A Bola doesn’t say the minimum amount that Benfica would demand for the move, but their article does make it sound like the Eagles would be open to negotiating the price.

Jota joined Celtic on a one-year loan last summer, and had an impressive start in Scotland, with eight goals and six assists in 18 appearances so far.

Due to a muscle injury, he hasn’t featured for the Hoops since the start of December, and even visited his parent club to get treatment.

With Benfica struggling with their attacking options this season, many fans regret seeing Jota being able to move permanently to Celtic for a relatively low amount.
