Tottenham Hotspur took Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus in January 2022 on an 18-month loan deal with an obligation to buy set at €35m, if ‘certain sporting goals’ are achieved during the 2022/23 season. If not, this will be converted into an option to buy.
Spurs parted ways with Antonio Conte in March and the forward insisted the manager’s exit would not have an impact on his future at the club. He also confirmed his desire to continue at Tottenham.
Calciomercato now state the 23-year-old could leave the Premier League side after this season.
Tottenham qualifying for the Champions League was one of the ‘sporting goals’. They are six points behind fourth placed Manchester United, with three games to go. The risk of finishing outside the top four means there’ll be no obligation to buy Kulusevski.
It’s said the player’s future at Juve is ‘already in the balance’. The report further adds he ‘would ask for a transfer’ in the summer, should Massimiliano Allegri continue at the club.
Over at Corriere dello Sport, they state Tottenham have ‘made it known’ to Juve that they won’t be exercising the €35m option to retain Kulusevski.
Therefore, he’s set to return to his parent club at the end of this season.
To sum it up, Tottenham would have decided not to go ahead with the pre-agreed deal with Juve to buy the Swede, although there’s a big chance this is all an effort to drive the price down.
