It’s no exaggeration to say that Moise Kean’s move to Everton in August 2019 proved to be a disaster for all involved.
On the face of it the deal appeared to be an excellent one for the Blues, who were securing one of the hottest up and coming talents in Europe for €27.5m.
Kean had been steadily rising at Juventus before that and the hope was he could continue that at Everton, perhaps giving them a much-needed replacement for Romelu Lukaku in the process.
That did not prove to be the case, though, with the striker failing to settle at Goodison Park and managing just four goals and two assists in 39 games for the club.
Everton gave up on him rather quickly, instead sending him out on loan to Paris Saint Germain in 2020 before securing a deal with Juventus for him to return there.
The Italian forward is currently in the second year of a loan deal with his former club, which is set to become a permanent one in the summer.
Everyone at Juventus is now much happier and so is Kean, who, according to his brother, was never happy about the move to Everton in the first place.
“Every now and then in recent months he would say to me: ‘Enough, I’m leaving!’” Calciomercato report him saying to Tuttosport.
“But they were impromptu outbursts due to poor use. He has never been about to leave and does not intend to, neither now nor in the future.
“On the contrary, he has pushed to return to Juve, it is his home. Allegri was the first to realise his progress.
“What a joy to see him score a double at Lazio under the eyes of Sarri, who did not want him. Kean felt very bad about being sold to Everton.”
