Brighton and Hove Albion have continued their scouring of South America for young talent by showing an interest in Boca Juniors midfielder Equi Fernandez.
That’s according to Boca Noticias, who say the 21-year-old is the latest young talent to be noticed by Brighton’s scouting network.
The website reports that ‘the alarms went off’ at Boca as Sevilla have shown an interest in the young centre back, who has become a key player for the Argentine giants since the departure of Alan Varela.
Fernandez ‘draws attention’ across Europe, though, and Brighton are another of the sides to have shown interest in him.
Indeed, the Seagulls have ‘asked for conditions’ regarding the player and joined the list of clubs who ‘try to get the services’ of the player as he continues to shine in Boca’s first team.
Boca are more than aware of the interest and their leadership knows that it will be ‘difficult to keep him’ and so they’ve set a $15m price tag on him in an attempt to ward off the growing suitors.
Whether that works and Brighton, Sevilla or anyone else are put off remains to be seen and in the meantime he’s a name to keep an eye on.
