On Wednesday, we covered an article in the Italian media regarding Leo Østigard and his current situation at Genoa.
The Brighton & Hove Albion defender is enjoying a short loan spell with the Serie A side during the second half of the season, and his recent performances, notably the one against Inter, had caught the eye of more than a few.
His contract with Graham Potter’s side is currently set to expire at the end of the campaign, although there is still plenty of time for him to renew at the Amex Stadium, but the situation is enticing for other clubs, who are technically allowed to approach him and discuss a potential free transfer with him.
Well, according to Primocanale, two of those are Juventus and the aforementioned Inter, with it explained that Østigard is ‘already in the sights of important clubs.
The two Serie A giants are among those, and are ready to take advantage of a potential relegation from Genoa, who ‘want to keep him’ if they can.
Going down to Serie B, however, would make everything ‘complicated’, thus allowing Juventus and Inter the chance to lure the Brighton man with an enticing top-flight offer.
A lot could depend on Potter, who, if impressed enough by what Østigard has shown while on loan, could also promise him Premier League football next season at the Amex, which would mean renewing the Norwegian once again.
