Brighton & Hove Albion have stepped in to sign Leeds United’s Georginio Rutter, according to Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the Leeds forward has agreed to join the Seagulls with ‘immediate effect’.
Fabian Hürzeler is keen to have the 22-year-old at the Amex and Brighton have made a firm effort to secure his services from Leeds United.
On Wednesday, claims in the UK press stated the Premier League side will activate the Leeds player’s €40m clause. Plettenberg backs that up and adds that Brighton will clarify the details of the deal today, to close the operation in the next few days.
The Sky journalist further adds the Frenchman could undergo his medical tests with Brighton in the ‘next 72 hours’.
Leeds United signed Rutter from TSG Hoffenheim in January 2023. He starred for Daniel Farke’s side last season, managing eight goals and 16 assists from 51 games.
