Last month, we covered claims from Italy which stated Brighton & Hove Albion have made contact to sign Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode.
On January 7th, Firenze Viola suggested the Seagulls’ good ties with the Serie A side can help them sign the right-back in the winter market.
A fresh report from the same outlet provides the latest on Brighton, and La Viola’s stance on letting him leave.
According to Firenze Viola, the fullback’s future is away from Fiorentina and England will ‘most likely’ be his next destination.
The 20-year-old has a market in the Premier League where Brighton are one of the clubs to have followed him for months. The report adds they would have ‘no problem shelling out’ €10m to secure his services.
Fabian Hürzeler’s side would like to buy him in January or sign him in this window on loan with an option/obligation to buy.
Fiorentina chairman Rocco Commisso and director Daniele Pradè fear Kayode can explode elsewhere and want to have some control over his future.
Therefore, they wouldn’t like to ‘give in to the advances of the Premier League’ and talk about a loan deal ‘under certain conditions’, which aren’t mentioned.
Brentford are also interested in Kayode, but Brighton would need to strengthen the right-back slot considering Tariq Lamptey and Joël Veltman have deals expiring in 2025.
