Such is the amount of money floating around Europe these days that €15m can be turned away by a club without them blinking.

That was the case for SPAL this summer when they turned down that price when Leeds came calling for striker Andrea Petagna.

He managed 16 goals in Serie A last year, playing a pivotal role to help SPAL finish four points outside of the relegation zone.

That attracted Leeds’ interest, and they put a €15m bid on the table for him according to Tuttosport.

That was rejected outright, and they’re not the first club to receive that treatment from the Serie A side this summer.

According to the newspaper, Inter Milan are keen on Petagna despite adding Alexis Sánchez and Romelu Lukaku to their forward line already.

They could have paid more than Leeds, but Spal were not interested again, rejecting the approach and forcing Inter to look elsewhere.

They’re now rushing to find that replacement with four days of the window remaining and the current options not exactly exciting or desirable.
