Mexican forward Piojo Alvarado is hoping the World Cup can ‘catapult him into Europe’, after Manchester United previously ‘had set their sights on him’.

A move never happened and he remained in Mexico, going on to win the Liga MX title with Cruz Azul, an Olympic bronze medal and the opportunity to be a part of Mexico’s squad for this World Cup.
He could use the tournament in Qatar to further aid his cause and ‘emigrate to Europe’, with some sources even believing he is the ‘most influential player’ in Martino’s squad.
The youngster has already racked up 300 appearances in the Mexican first division by age 23 and won several titles at club and international level and the only thing missing is that ‘leap to Europe’.
The World Cup can help fix that, with the player being someone who knows ‘how to take advantage of opportunities’ such as this one.
He is set to play a key role for Mexico regardless, and should he shine as many are expecting him to do, perhaps Manchester United will be back in the picture.
