Arsenal could make a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku this summer, having previously been interested in him.
That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say the Gunners were keen on the Frenchman before his move to Leipzig in 2019.
Nkunku has been impressive for the German side since moving in an £11.7m deal from Paris Saint Germain two years ago in search of regular playing time.
That is something he has found in the Bundesliga, establishing himself as a regular under Julian Nagelsmann over the last two seasons.
This year he has been in particularly good form, with six goals and five assists in 21 games in the Bundesliga so far.
That has seen him tentatively linked with a move elsewhere, and back in November, Arsenal were named as potential suitors by SportBILD.
Sky follow that up today and state the midfielder ‘could also move to England’ as several Leipzig stars are linked with making the move this summer.
According to their information, Arsenal ‘already had their eye’ on the young midfielder before his move to Leipzig and, while it’s not stated outright, it’s hinted that interest remains.
It makes sense too. Mikel Arteta’s side are in need of a creative midfielder and have been linked with several over the last few months.
They have Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid and present, and there’s every chance that could be extended next season, but if it isn’t, perhaps Nkunku is an alternative option.
