Battle appears to sign Celtic player – Seen as a quality addition and option for future improvement

Last summer, Celtic signed Gustaf Lagerbielke from IF Elfsborg and he’s struggled to cement a place under Brendan Rodgers.

The Celtic manager left the centre-back out of the squad for three months before giving him an opportunity against St. Mirren on January 2nd. His situation at Celtic Park has caught the attention of other clubs.

Genoa are among them and they’ve set their sights on the 23-year-old, according to Genova Today.

Earlier today, Genoa star Radu Drăgușin agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur and his exit will force the Serie A side to bring in a replacement in the winter market. It’s claimed the Italian club have identified several targets and this includes the Celtic player.

A potential deal won’t be easy because the Sweden international is also wanted by Lecce. Therefore, Genoa have to battle it out with their Serie A counterpart for his signature.

Two days ago, Gianluca Di Marzio stated Lecce have initiated contact to sign the defender. On Tuesday, TuttoMercatoWeb explained that contacts continue between Lecce and Celtic for a potential Lagerbielke move.

The Swede is seen as quality addition, and also a player who can improve in the future should a longer term deal be the ultimate aim.
