The future of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is today put in doubt by Spanish outlet Marca.

Their website features a story claiming that as the 30-year-old recovers from his latest injury, he has his place in the team threatened by the arrival of Declan Rice and Mikel Arteta’s interest in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

Even though that sounds a little exaggerated, it’s said Partey should soon have the ‘last chance’ to convince Mikel Arteta that he’s still a contender for a starting spot in Arsenal’s midfield, as he could find a complicated situation in the squad come the summer.

The outlet writes about the possibility of a summer move, claiming that Barcelona have been ‘keeping an eye’ on the player’s situation. As usual, it’s said the Camp Nou side would find it difficult to sign him, given their financial situation would stop them from making a big investment.

Partey is said to be fully focused on his future at Arsenal, though, with the story claiming he’s ‘optimistically’ rejoining the squad, ‘with conviction’ he’ll continue being important for the club.
