Barcelona had another dark Champions League night on Wednesday, as Ronald Koeman’s side lost 3-0 to Benfica.

The Lisbon misery piles even more pressure on the manager, and it’s now at a tipping point.

Since Joan Laporta took over at the Camp Nou as president it’s seemed a matter of time before Koeman loses his job, and the Dutchman hasn’t provided results to make that decision difficult for his boss.

Inevitably, there are multiple articles across the Spanish media on Thursday talking about the situation, with Mundo Deportivo joining the pack.

They say that after the match, Laporta postponed the decision on Koeman. Instead of sacking the manager immediately, it’s something he’ll consider in the ‘next few hours’.

According to the Catalan newspaper, there are four men in the frame to replace him, and those are: Xavi, Roberto Martinez, Andrea Pirlo and Oscar Garcia.

Surprisingly, the frontrunner is now thought to be Pirlo, despite his difficulties at Juventus.
