Manchester City star Erling Haaland was the subject of a controversial topic in Norway today.
That happened because national team manager Stale Solkbakken was asked whether the player lacks desire to play for the national team in unimportant international matches.
The coach, quoted by Bold, wasn’t happy at all with the question presented by a VG journalist, claiming that shouldn’t even be an issue.
“You’re trying to make the point that he’s not happy playing for Norway and that he cancelled for that reason.
Solkbakken went on when speaking to TV2, claiming the Manchester City player only misses out on international games when there’s a good reason for him to do so.
“It annoys me because it misrepresents reality. It’s bad journalism and it’s fake journalism.”
Haaland is expected to be involved for Norway’s upcoming games in the next international break. They’re first facing Faroe Islands in a friendly, and then playing Scotland in the final round of the Euro qualifiers. Since they’re already out of the competition, the lack of an objective is the reason why Haaland may not be excited about that.
The striker made his debut for Norway back in 2019, and has a record of 27 goals in 28 games so far. Before joining the national team this month, he still has two more games for Manchester City.
