As Atlético Madrid prepare to play Celtic in the Champions League tonight, the Spanish media now brings details of the police operation that will be held for that match.

Tele Madrid explains that the local government are taking a special selection of nearly 1300 personnel for this game.

According to their story, the match between Atlético Madrid and Celtic was classified as ‘high risk’ by the Anti-Violence Commission.

That’s partly due to the number of Celtic fans expected to try and watch Brendan Rodgers’ side. It’s expected there’ll be around 1000 Celtic fans without tickets.

The Spanish police will be monitoring all areas surrounding the Wanda Metropolitano stadium, with agents of the National Police, Municipal Police of Madrid, SAMUR-Civil Protection, Fire Department, the Red Cross, besides security officials from the La Liga club.

Atlético Madrid are reportedly expecting their stadium to be packed, with 60,000 people, and 3,500 Celtic fans among them.

The Colchoneros currently stand in 2nd place, with 5 points in three games, and need the win to continue well positioned in the fight for a spot in the knock-out stage.

Celtic, meanwhile, only have one point, and hope a good result can help them at least get to the Europa League.
