Spanish side Athletic Bilbao are hoping Chelsea will sell Kepa Arrizabalaga in a big-money move this summer, as it would see them pocket another profit on the goalkeeper.

Kepa has found himself under fire again this season after another year of disappointing performances as Chelsea’s number one.

That has been followed by numerous reports that Frank Lampard is keen to find a replacement this summer, with several top goalkeepers linked.

One of those is AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose contract at the Italian club expires next summer and is showing no signs of agreeing to an extension.

A mega-deal involving both players has been mooted and, according to Grada 3, Athletic are keen to see it happen as they would also benefit.

The website explains that they are due 5% of any future sale as part of FIFA’s solidarity mechanism for training rights.

Thus, if Kepa were to move in a big-money move this summer, they would earn themselves a nice profit, an amount that would be ‘significant’ for the club.

However, should Kepa move in a simple swap deal, or in a ‘cheaper’ transfer the compensation wouldn’t be due as it’s not ‘quantifiable’.

Athletic, therefore are ‘keeping an eye’ on the situation and hoping that if Kepa does leave Chelsea, it’s for a significant fee so that they can benefit too.
